It's a holiday here tomorrow (Family Day). It's awesome to finally have an extra day off in February, because this winter has been B-R-U-T-A-L.

Heath Ledger is dead?

I wasn't an obsessed fan of his, but I've always enjoyed his acting. It was such a shock reading the news yesterday. I'm not sure why I'm so stunned by it. Maybe because he's one of the celebs who doesn't parade his drama for everyone to see. I didn't even know he and Michelle Williams had split up last year. I knew there daughter would be about 2 now. But, I haven't followed his career much lately, so I guess I had forgotten about him after all the Brokeback hype. OMG, his poor family.

Yay for Mad Men winning the Golden Globe! Gotta suck though, that the year you beat all the big network shows, a writers strike is going on. And, congrats to Johnny Depp. Is Oscar too far away?

I watched Prison Break last night, with a perplexed look on my face. I have no idea what's going on anymore. My, my, my... Whistler looked sexy. As did heat-soaked Michael.

We've settled into our new place. More importantly, we have INTERNET! The holidays are over and I'm back at work. Hopefully, things will calm down for a while.

Cha... right.

I'm a bad fangirl. I missed PB's double episode on Monday, but I'm not overly traumatized by it. In fact, I haven't watched a single episode of Heroes or Ugly Betty. And, I'm barely watching Grey's Anatomy and Big Shots. Can you tell I'm just not into TV right now?

On the work front, my new job at the magazine is going really well. It's been 4 months already, and I still love it. The people I work with are the best. I truly feel blessed.

I'm sorry to see PrisonBreak-Online go, angelicus... but you have served the fandom well. Thanks for keeping the site going as long as you did.

BTW, we're looking for reporters at prisonbreaknews. If you know anyone who's interested and reliable, cough, cough... give me a holler.

I've given Big Shots 2 episodes. I could barely sit through last nights fiasco. I don't think I can hold on for much longer. Yikes... what a waste of a good cast. The writing is so juvenile, it's ridiculous and not even remotely funny. All the eye candy cannot make up for really AWFUL story lines.

Prison Break was okay this week, but it didn't knock me over. I didn't watch anything else this week, except for the L Word. My... that show is so unimpressive now. Maybe I'm in a mood. I don't know...

I'm going to an awesome wedding reception this weekend, so I'll be out of town for most of it. Hold down the fort angelicus & elizabethb.

I've felt really crappy the last 3 days. I think some nasty bug is going around. There are a few people from work out sick today. I barely made it through the day yesterday... so I decided to work a half day. I'm feeling MUCH better today, but not 100%.

Oh well, the best thing to do is get out and enjoy this great September weather. They say we're going to break a record today... 32 degrees and counting. Driving to work this morning I couldn't help but marvel at how all the trees have turned already. It was a beautiful see of orange and red... but a sad reminder that Winter isn't that far away.

TV is heating up. Big Shots debuts this Thursday. I'm excited to see what it's all about... because... Michael Vartan... yeah... hot! I hear it's the male version of Sex and The City. I don't know how that will work, but I'll give it a good go (a few episodes at least). Hell, I watched every episode of Six Degrees and it was dreadful. Big Shots can't be any worse. I don't know if I'm going to watch Private Practice. The early buzz sounds bad, and I think I've had my fill of medical dramas. Speaking of which... House debuts tonight! The commercial last night during Prison Break was extremely entertaining.

I watched SONA for the first time last night. I have to say that wasn't a very thrilling season finale. I am looking forward to seeing how much of a madhouse SONA is, though. No guards, drugs and debauchery everywhere. Ooooooh, Pretty's gonna have his hands full!

Yay... Roger won ANOTHER grand slam. Okay, can we stop debating if he's the best EVER? We know he is.

I didn't watch the MTV Video Awards, but all the banter about Britney and others has been amusing. I will thank ONTD for that. BTW, she doesn't look like a cow. She looks pretty damn good, for having 2 kids very recently. Geez. Mind you, that outfit wasn't very well thought out.

Five weeks in and I'm still really happy with the new job. Compared to where I used to work, it's night and day. The people are great and the atmosphere is relaxed. Who knew this type of work environment existed?

I'm really happy with my icon batches lately. I finally figured out a colouring that I like. I think I'll stick with it. Maybe. FYI... new icons here & here.

I'm actually looking forward to The Hills premiere tonight.

An update... finally!

The stars have aligned in my favour, and I finally get to leave the crappy media job I've had for while... to work for a magazine. Working in publishing and advertising has been a dream of mine, and it's finally come to fruition. Woot! I'm so excited.

I imagine my schedule is going to become a bit more hectic, so that means less LiveJournal time. I've already given over sweet_as_sucre and larceny_lane to new ownership, and resigned as a banner maker at wenty_stills. What does that leave? My two icontests: kate_stills and sandra_stills. I will probably be looking for new ownership for them in the near future. As much as I enjoy running them, I don't think I'll have the time. And, let's not forget that I'm the new maintainer of prisonbreaknews. I'm fully committed to keeping the newsletter going for at least one more season. It's a great resource, and we Prison Break fans deserve it. Thank you to the few reporters we have, and to angelicus for helping out when she can! As the weeks go by, I'm getting more excited about Season 3. I can't wait for the promo pics! PB premieres September 17th. Be there or be square!

I've been watching mostly reality TV lately. The Real World Reunion is looking good. Canada's Next Top Model is down to 4 finalists. I'd like Rebecca to win, although Sinead seems a bit more commercial. But, I hold no show closer to my heart than... Big Brother. Unfortunately, I've missed the last 2 shows, so I don't know if the Veto was used, and who got evicted last night. Someone please fill me in? angelicus?

My parents are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this December. So, my sister and I are throwing them a big bash... about 100 guests. They deserve it. They had a small wedding back in the 60's, with no family and few friends. It'll be great to get everyone who is important to both of them in one room, to celebrate their love and commitment to each other.

Congrats to Roger on winning 5 Wimbies in a row. I like when he beats Nadal, even though I don't mind Rafa so much. Wimbledon was a bit dull with all the rain in London. Build the roof already people!

Arnold Schwarzenegger is in town. I don't know why I find this funny... but I do.

I'm going through major Heroes withdrawal. It's strange not to be watching it every week. I'm still not missing PB, but that will probably change come August.

I love gardening. I'm no green thumb, but I enjoy the creativity of landscaping and getting close to the earth. And, the smell of fresh cut grass is pretty intoxicating.

I have started making stock icons, which I find really enjoyable.

I revisited my Roswell DVD sets... again. Something about that show I can never let go of. Listening to Jason Katims' commentaries gave me a better understanding of why the final episodes seemed so rushed. I watched Season 3 with a whole new perspective, and it has actually grown on me. I'm SO in favour of a movie. I know it probably won't happen, but one can dream.

American Idol has bored me to tears the last few weeks. I guess all the excitement left with Sanjaya. *snort* I'm still going with Jordin. It's hers to lose.

WEIRD weather yesterday. For most of the day it was warm and muggy. Then around 6PM, the temperature dramatically dropped and hail started falling for 3 minutes straight. Hail in May? And, then the rain and wind & thunder and lightening came. It looked like Tornado weather.

Speaking of which... I finally watched An Inconvenient Truth last weekend, angelicus. It really makes you think.

The following pictures were taken by a man in Magee, Mississiippi where the eye of the storm passed through. Magee is 150 miles North of Waveland, Mississippi where the Hurricane made land fall. The dance with Katrina... part of her beauty as she left destruction on her exit. They are remarkably dramatic. They will make you gasp...

The following picture was taken from the third story balcony of Saint Stanislaus College located next door to Our Lady of the Gulf church in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi on the morning of August 29th, 2005. This is believed to be the initial tidal wave from Hurricane Katrina. The tidal wave was approximately 35 to 40 feet high. When it slammed into the beach front communities of Bay Saint Louis and Waveland Mississippi, it completely destroyed 99% of every structure along the beach for 9 miles and over of a mile inland. The destruction only started there. The flooding that continued inland destroyed the contents of all but 35 homes in these two communities of approximately 14,000 people.
